The Midlands Junior Chess Championships will take place on Saturday 22nd July at Leicester. There are six sections, with Midlands Junior Champion titles in each section for the highest scoring boy and girl from the Midlands areas and cash prizes for the winners. This is a one day graded rapidplay championship for players under 18. An entry form is available to download.
Louth Chess Club will be hosting a first round of the Delancy UK Chess Challenge tournament for junior players aged between 8 and 18. The schedule for the rounds are as follows:
Tuesday 14th February - Rounds 1, 2 and 3
Tuesday 21st February - Rounds 4 and 5
Tuesday 28th February - Rounds 6 and 7
Please note that entrants do not have to compete in all 3 rounds, however your chances of winning the top prize will be reduced if you do not. Entry cost is £1 per evening.
The third event in the LSCA Grand Prix series will be held at St. James School in Grimsby on Sunday 5th February. It is a 6 round swiss tournament for pupils at lincolnshire schools aged 11-18. The entry fee is £5. An entry form is available to download.
The LSCA are holding an U9 & U11 tournament in Spalding on Saturday 21st January 2017. This is a 6 round swiss tournament with each player getting 20 minutes on the clock. An entry form is available to download.
The 8th October sees the first event in the LSCA Grand Prix series. As with the county championship we are planning to have two sections - Under-13 and Under-18 if numbers permit. This is the 1st of six events that will be held around the county through the school year. Each tournament will have prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd plus there will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd for the overall series. There will also be a trophy for all players who complete five of the six events whatever they score. The entry form for the first event is available to download.
