Report from Keith Palmer
This was one of the more interesting chess tournaments that has been held in Lincolnshire. 52 children and adults competed over six rounds on tables arranged down the central aisle of the splendid church. The Under 11 section featured several younger children as well as many of our top Year 5 and 6 players. It was also pleasing to have a significant number of girl entrants.
Unfortunately, competitors were not allowed to climb the stone staircase to the spire because a pair of rare peregrine falcons have nested on the platform there. However, by way of compensation, we were delighted to be able to observe the falcon pair on their nest through a cctv link to a monitor located in the atrium.
