Lincolnshire Chess Association

Welcome

Welcome to the Lincolnshire Chess Association web site. The aim of the association is to promote, organise and encourage adult and junior chess in Lincolnshire. A number of chess clubs are affiliated to the association and membership is open to any chess club based in Lincolnshire. The association runs the Lincolnshire League as well as a number of other chess competitions in Lincolnshire including the county championship, quick play tournament and jamboree.

Lincolnshire narrowly lost to Staffordshire by a score of 6½-5½. Full Results

Nottingham Rapidplay (3rd Feb)

Peter Damms (Louth) won the intermediate section with a score of 5½/6 and received £100 prize money. Here are the results for all the Lincs players who took part in the competition:

  • Major: Jules Brown (Lincoln) 3
  • Intermediate: Peter Damms (Louth) 5½ 1st, John Grasham (Louth) 2½, Kishore Murugesh (Horncastle) 2½, Neil Roberts (Lincoln) 2

U120 County Match: Warwickshire v Lincolnshire (23th Jan)

Lincolnshire had a convincing win against the current leaders Warwickshire by a score of 7½-4½. They are now equal second on 4 points. Full Results

Junior News

Midlands Junior Chess Championships (11th Jun)

The Midlands Junior Chess Championships will take place on Saturday 22nd July at Leicester. There are six sections, with Midlands Junior Champion titles in each section for the highest scoring boy and girl from the Midlands areas and cash prizes for the winners. This is a one day graded rapidplay championship for players under 18. An entry form is available to download.

Delancy UK Chess Challenge (29th Jan)

Louth Chess Club will be hosting a first round of the Delancy UK Chess Challenge tournament for junior players aged between 8 and 18. The schedule for the rounds are as follows:

Tuesday 14th February - Rounds 1, 2 and 3
Tuesday 21st February - Rounds 4 and 5
Tuesday 28th February - Rounds 6 and 7

Please note that entrants do not have to compete in all 3 rounds, however your chances of winning the top prize will be reduced if you do not. Entry cost is £1 per evening.
