The last U18 tournament of the season was held in Lincoln on Saturday 14th July. In equal first place was Joseph Hamson, James Kelly and Callum Foard, all with a score of 5/6. The last U18 tournament of the season will be held at The Atrium, Lincoln on Saturday 14th July. It is a 6 round tournament with each player getting 25 mins on the clock. There are prizes to be won for U18 and U13 age groups and the highest score over the four tournaments held this year. An entry form is available to download.
This competition takes place at North Thoresby Primary School on Saturday 23rd June. The County Championship titles being contested are: under 11 and under 9 girls, under 8 mixed boys and girls and minor championship for under 11 and under 9 boys. The U18 tournament was held in Grimsby on Saturday 10th Mar. The winner was Max Vasey (Caistor GS) with a score of 4½/5. Full results
The 2nd Louth Junior Quickplay chess tournament will be held on Saturday 21st April at the Louth Chess Club. It is a 6 round competition with each player having 25 mins on the clock. For those interested in playing an entry form is available to download.
Short report from Keith Palmer:
This year we fielded very inexperienced teams against extremely strong Nottinghamshire and Northamptonshire teams. We finished behind these teams in all competitions and points did not come easy! However, our Under 11's Under 11 Girls and Under 9's did win through in a number of the head to head contests. Most notable was the Girls' performance in the final round when they scored an impressive 5.5 out of 10 points. As many of the girls are quite young the team can look forward to a positive future. The boys were up against 4 teams from the top school in the country. Many of our missed points came only after long, hard fought battles when our players lost out narrowly in extremely close end games. Thank you all for your hard work and efforts.
The Lincolnshire County Chess Championships for U9 and U11 will be held at Caistor Primary School on 28th April 2011. Please download an entry form if you are interested in taking part in the competition. There will also be prizes for Yr 2-6 age groups.
