Lincolnshire played against Norfolk in the final of the Minor Counties Championship on Saturday 2nd July. The team lost 9-7 to a very solid Norfolk team who deserved their victory. It has been a very successful season with great victories against two strong teams in Essex and Cambridgeshire. The team can feel very proud of what they have achieved. Full Results
The MCCU Congress will be held on 13-14th August in Walsall. It is a 5 round tournament with sections for all levels of ability. The tournament is also part of the ECF Grand Prix and the MCCU Grand Prix. For further information please visit the MCCU Congress website.
Another close match for the Lincolnshire team and a well deserved victory. The team beat Cambridgeshire by a score of 8½-7½ and go through to their first Minor Counties Final in 26 years. The final will take place on Saturday 2nd July at Warwick. Full Results

The U120 team lost 7½-4½ to Norfolk in their Quarter Final match. It has been a successful season for the team having reached the quarter final stage for the second time. Full Results
The George Renison Memorial Jamboree will take place at St. James School in Grimsby on Saturday 24th September. The jamboree is for teams of four players. There will be an open section and an under 18 section. An entry form is available to download.
Lincolnshire beat Essex by a score of 8½-7½. This is the first time that the team have beaten Essex. They will now play Cambridge in the Semi Final. Full Results
This year's county championship will be held at the Lindum Business Park Atrium on 16-17 July. An entry form is available to download. You can either send your entry by post, hand your entry to Peter Sherlock at the Alf Newman Memorial Rapidplay on June 4th or send an email entry.
Lincolnshire had a comfortable 10½-5½ victory over Cornwall with the difference in average grades being more than 20 points. The team will now face Essex in the Quarter Finals. Full Results

Louth Chess Club is pleased to announce that the 2016 Alf Newman Quickplay Chess Tournament will take place on Saturday 4th June at the usual venue, Church House in Louth. An entry form is available to download. This year the entry fee has been increased by £2.00 for adults and £1.00 for juniors, and the first prize doubled to £100.00! Grading prizes and a junior prize are also included. I look forward to seeing many of you there, enjoying our friendly but competitive tournament.

The U140 team lost 9-7 against Worcestershire in their final match of the season. They gave a good performance despite being out-graded on every board. Full Results
Lincolnshire beat Warwickshire 12-4 to keep their hopes of qualification alive. A win in their last match against Worcestershire on March 5th will see them through to the preliminary round of the Minor Counties Competition. Full Results

The U120 team had a comfortable 9-3 win against Worcestershire. There were good performances from a number of Lincolnshire players and the match never looked in doubt as the team steadily made progress in their games. Full Results
The minor team suffered a narrow 8½-7½ defeat against a much stronger Leicestershire team. Full Results
The U120 team lost 7-5 to Nottinghamshire in a match that they were leading most of the time until a few boards near the end turned against them. Full Results
Paul Fischer (Lincoln) had a good win on board 10 in a theoretical line of the Giuoco Piano View Game
It was a successful time for Lincolnshire players at Scarborough this year with many of them winning prize money. Pawel Szutowski (Spalding) was the outright winner in the Foundation section with a score of 5/5 and won £500. Amy Milson (Louth) came equal 2nd in the Intermediate section with a score of 4/5 and won £62. Arya Parnian (Grimsby) did equally well in the Foundation section, coming equal 2nd with a score of 4/5 and winning £56. Arya also won a junior prize of £25. John Grasham (Louth) won a grading prize of £12.50 in the Minor section with a score of 3½/5. Here are the results for all the Lincs players who took part in the competition (all scores out of 5):
Lincolnshire suffered a disappointing loss to Nottinghamshire by a score of 11-5. This setback means the team will need to win against Leicestershire in December if they are to have any hopes of progressing further in the competition. Full Results
Lincolnshire narrowly lost 8½-7½ to Derbyshire in their opening match of the season. The team suffered some quick defeats early on in the match and this proved to be their undoing in the end. Full Results

This year's Jamboree took place at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Horncastle on Sunday 20th September. Grantham won the Jamboree with 16 points. The winning junior team was Yellow Bellied Knights with 14 points. Full Results

The annual Cambridgeshire Rapidplay will be held at Whittlesford on Sunday 11th October. This is a five round tournament with each player having 30 minutes on the clock. There are 4 sections for Open, Major, Challengers and Juniors. An entry form can be downloaded for this competition.
The Lincolnshire Chess Association AGM will take place at 3pm on Sunday 13th September at Church House in Louth. The fixture meeting with precede at 1:30pm. An agenda and the minutes from the last meeting are available to download or view.
